Over the last 10+ years roughly 100 physical therapists, medical doctors, chiropractors, and Rolfers(r) have contributed to the set of pain relieving exercises and techniques.

    You will learn lifelong fitness skills you can take into your everyday life. Every week there is a new focus to guarantee your learning is well-rounded.

Who we are

Welcome to Studio One Pilates, the first Pilates studio in Anchorage, Alaska!

Studio One Pilates offers a full spectrum of group fitness Pilates classes including whole body boot camp, back and joint boot camp, pre and post-natal, VASIE Barre, signature Studio One VASIE bar system, and reformer program.

All Studio One instructors are full-time professional instructors with advanced training and five hours of continued weekly advanced study. In addition, all Studio One programs are research-based, reviewed, and approved by over 100 local physical therapists and medical doctors.

Class creators

The Healthy Back & Joint Basics Class was created by Paul Van Alstine, Anna Kokaurova and a team of Anchorage-based physical therapist. We saw a need in the community for people who were finishing physical therapy and we’re not ready to go to the gym yet desperately needed to keep working on their stability, mobility, and strength in a safe and intentional way.

The true inspiration for this class came out of the idea that if somebody has pain or movement restriction it doesn’t mean they can’t get toned and look good from their workouts! There is a misconception that you can't look better when working with an injury or chronic joint pain. Our approach does both - makes you feel better (less pain), gives you move control, and you look better and feel more active!

This class was carefully constructed by and with the expertise of two certified Advanced Rolfers and a team of physical therapists. We are pleased to say that we’ve worked with thousands of people since 2001 to maintain and improve their health, and get control of pain through movement. The healthy back and joint class is constantly updated with the latest research and most effective exercise and stability protocols.


Class instructors

VASIE Creator, Owner of Studio One

Paul Van Alstine, B.S., Certified Advanced Rolfer, and VASIE developer has over 20 years of teaching Pilates, developing training programs, and doing Manual therapy as a Certified Advanced Rolfer TM. Chronic pain controlled much of my life for almost 20 years. At this point, I feel blessed to be out of pain and physically still improving into my late 50s.

My inspiration comes from seeing how well bodies can change and improve from almost any starting point. I love working with beginners and people at all levels. I am inspired by our clients of all ages who show up consistently and make amazing progress through education and persistence.

VASIE Pilates Training Director

Anna Kokaurova has been the training director at Studio One Pilates in Anchorage Alaska since 2002. As a certified Advanced Rolfer since 2005 Anna has contributed to the VASIE Pilates method of teaching by developing programs like the Healthy Back & Joint Basics, Restore Your Post-Baby Core, Pelvic Floor Power Up, VASIE Teacher Training, VASIE Ballet Barre.

Most recently, Anna Kokaurova has developed and launched VASIE Pilates online, a program that helps studio one members and former members stay connected and in shape through online access.
